Kia ora e te whānau,

The Ultimate Parents Guide to Online Safety: Have you RSVP’d to this event?  I will resend the email with more information later today, but I cannot express enough how great this information evening will be. As parents/caregivers of young people who ARE ALL impacted by the ONLINE WORLD because there is no way of avoiding it, prioritising this event is a must – AND IT’S FREE! Ring the office and secure your seat today!

Camp: On Monday our Year 7 & 8’s are heading away to camp. A reminder they need to arrive at school by 7.30am for an 8am departure time. Thank you to those who have contacted the school to make payment arrangements, if we haven’t heard from you yet please get in touch before Monday to make arrangements.

Assembly – Friday 7th March: Have you got our Mid-term Whole School Assembly in your calendar? This is at 2pm this Friday. Head straight to the Scout Hall and take a seat, our school leaders will be the hosts and each class will share.

BSSG: We have an Easter Raffle mufti coming up and then tickets will come home with your tamariki. We are raising funds for shade sails for the junior play area. We thank you for your ongoing support and a huge shout out to our BSSG for the mahi they put into fundraising for our tamariki.

Aspirational Conversations are coming up – have you booked your time slot yet? These will be taking place from 1.30-7.30pm on Tuesday 18th March and 3.30-6pm on Thursday 20th March. School will remain open as normal and buses will be running as usual.

Healthy Active Learning/Sport Whanganui:  Attached is a link to a survey from this provider. We have had a partnership with them for over 3 years and we cannot stress enough how much the teams presence in our kura and classrooms has enhanced learning for both students and staff. They are an incredibly dedicated group of people who work alongside us to improve learning through a lense of Te Whare Tapa Wha – taking care of all aspects of health for our tamariki.  It is a part of a larger Child, Youth and Wellbeing strategy which over 900 schools nationwide have been a part of. To help understand the impact Massey University wants responses from whānau to hear about how your tamariki participate in physical activity and healthy eating and drinking at our school and in our community.  The survey takes 5-10 minutes to complete and puts you in the draw to win a $100 supermarket voucher.  Link:  https://massey.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_e5SnfFUZmmyyFJb

End of Term Maths Mania Fun: The poster below gives you a heads up to our Whānau Fun Day on the last day of term – put it in your calendar.

Kia ora rā, Kim Gordon.

Remember to keep checking our Calendar on Skool Apps or the Website.  Friday 7th March, we are having a mid-term Whole School Assembly starting at 2pm.

Pop it in your diary now.

Scooters & Bikes at School

We are happy that our children use these methods to get to school. Once they reach the school grounds we expect them to push their wheels to the bike stands in order to avoid accidents and mishaps. If your child is unable to adhere to these guidelines we may have to ask them to discontinue bringing their bikes or scooters to school. Students must place their wheels in the stands as soon as they arrive. We discourage ‘other’ types of wheels as this can create unnecessary issues. Our bike track is for everyones enjoyment. Helmets must be worn at all times.

Uniform Code

All students wear the Bulls School polo shirt, polar fleece, a sport & Cultural top, and the logoed red bucket hat available from Academy Apparel in Palmerston North. Their ‘bottom’ is non-regulation other than a colour restriction to plain black (no writing, logos, stripes or other colours). Shoes need to be suitable for school wear.

Please name ALL clothing and shoes.

In Terms 1 and 4 of each year, red Bulls School bucket hats must be worn when outdoors.

If hair is long, we request it is tied back for safety, hygiene and practical purposes.

Hair styles and colours should be as natural as possible and avoid extreme ‘trends’

which may be seen as threatening.

Jewellery should be kept to a minimum and not pose any health or safety dangers.

SUBSCRIBE TO APP GROUPS

Di has refreshed this and named each group with 2024 so you know it’s relevant and up to date. You will all need to join the groups specific to your tamariki.

This has important notices for either the whole school or specific groups eg: Bus Students, Sports, Cultural, Hubs, etc that you can join according to what your child’s involved in.

Many notices or reminders go out via the APP so it is an important tool for parents to be aware of what is due eg: permission slips and dates for events offsite, transport required etc. This is also an efficient way to provide absence notices.

In many cases, parental permission may be given via the app as well.
