TERM 1 WEEK 3 2025

Kia ora e te whānau,

It’s great to have the term well underway. We have been making the most of the late summer weather, enjoying daily swims and afternoons under the trees. It was great to see so many whānau at the Meet & Greet last week and teachers enjoyed having the children introduce their whānau to them. We had over half of our children and their families come along – such a great start to our home and school partnership.

Later in the term we have our Aspirational Conversations and there is a link for you to book in for these under bookings on our app. Get in quick for a time that suits you. We aim for 100% attendance at these. We know that children’s learning journeys are significantly enhanced when they know we are all in it together.

The other major focus for us this term is our FREE event: Ultimate Parents Guide to Understanding our Kids Online World. (See poster above). This is not to be missed! I will email all whānau over the coming week to encourage you to pick up FREE ticket/s from the office. This will help us manage the numbers. This is open to all Primary Schools in the Rangitīkei so I want to make sure our whānau get in quick.  If you want us to hold you a ticket – email or call us now – we will put some aside when they are printed – and remember – it’s FREE!

Here is some feedback…

He mahi tahi tātau, let’s all work together,

Kia ora rā, Kim Gordon.

Remember to keep checking our Calendar on Skool Apps or the Website.  Friday 7th March, we are having a mid-term Whole School Assembly starting at 2pm.

Pop it in your diary now.

Tough Kids entries have now closed and fees are due. If you haven’t already please make payment into the School Bank account Westpac 03 0605 0179074 00

Entry $13, Lunch $7, Tee shirt $25.

Our kaiako and tamariki have been using our NAPE assessment tool for several years.  It is used regularly for self, peer and teacher assessment.  We have recently updated the language when referring to: Novice, Apprentice, Practitioner and Expert.  We hope this will provide some clarity for you also.

Scooters & Bikes at School

We are happy that our children use these methods to get to school. Once they reach the school grounds we expect them to push their wheels to the bike stands in order to avoid accidents and mishaps. If your child is unable to adhere to these guidelines we may have to ask them to discontinue bringing their bikes or scooters to school. Students must place their wheels in the stands as soon as they arrive. We discourage ‘other’ types of wheels as this can create unnecessary issues. Our bike track is for everyones enjoyment. Helmets must be worn at all times.

Uniform Code

All students wear the Bulls School polo shirt, polar fleece, a sport & Cultural top, and the logoed red bucket hat available from Academy Apparel in Palmerston North. Their ‘bottom’ is non-regulation other than a colour restriction to plain black (no writing, logos, stripes or other colours). Shoes need to be suitable for school wear.

Please name ALL clothing and shoes.

In Terms 1 and 4 of each year, red Bulls School bucket hats must be worn when outdoors.

If hair is long, we request it is tied back for safety, hygiene and practical purposes.

Hair styles and colours should be as natural as possible and avoid extreme ‘trends’

which may be seen as threatening.

Jewellery should be kept to a minimum and not pose any health or safety dangers.

SUBSCRIBE TO APP GROUPS

Di has refreshed this and named each group with 2024 so you know it’s relevant and up to date. You will all need to join the groups specific to your tamariki.

This has important notices for either the whole school or specific groups eg: Bus Students, Sports, Cultural, Hubs, etc that you can join according to what your child’s involved in.

Many notices or reminders go out via the APP so it is an important tool for parents to be aware of what is due eg: permission slips and dates for events offsite, transport required etc. This is also an efficient way to provide absence notices.

In many cases, parental permission may be given via the app as well.
