Kia ora koutou katoa,
First – thank you so much for your support today. We have been overwhelmed with how our whānau have done the best they could to arrange for their tamariki to finish at 12.30pm. I think it would be fair to say that the situation with regards to the teachers collective agreement negotiations are complex and ongoing. What you may gain from media reports is most definitely not the whole picture because the pages of negotiations wouldn’t make for great headlines, so just the juicy bits make it through. Ultimately, we want the teaching profession to attract great people and conditions impact this. Being united and working together is a major aspect of our approach to leading learning for your tamariki. Having attractive pay conditions is only a portion of the big picture and your support is hugely appreciated.
We are super excited to be sharing with you that we plan to have Matariki Hākari Celebration on the last day of term. We are inviting our whānau to come in and take part in our morning programme then get alongside our tamariki and do some matariki inspired activities, have morning tea with the staff and then enjoy a concert involving hubs, kapahaka, jump jam and more! This is an event you won’t want to miss so put it in your diary now.
Other exciting news – mid-year reports will be coming home with your child/ren tomorrow. Please look out for them. This term has been super busy for teachers, first we had our whānau connection hui and then they worked on assessment to support report writing. Please enjoy celebrating the learning journey of your children.
Don’t forget – Friday is a TEACHER ONLY DAY. We will all be on-site doing our First Aid Certificate refresh. Again, thank you for your support of this important kaupapa.
Enjoy the long weekend, fingers are crossed for sunshine, or at least no more rain! Let the winter months begin.
